Servomold at Fakuma 2023

Technology of tomorrow at your fingertips

Impressions from Hall A2: Servomold's major trade fair appearance of the year was dominated by our new generation of control units, strong partners and stand neighbors and future-oriented thinking for plastic injection moulding.

Joining forces at the shared stand with Feller Engineering

In October 2023, a team of five made their way to Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance for our big trade fair appearance of the year - the venue for one of the most important trade fairs in our industry: Fakuma. From October 17 to 21, our company was also represented there with an exhibition stand, exhibits and prototypes. This year's mission? Hands-on innovation with the brand new SMC control units for testing and the market launch of new SLA linear actuators.

But Servomold was not the only company with product innovations: Feller Engineering GmbH, with whom we maintain close cooperation and partnership, joined forces with us for a joint stand. At the stand, which was divided into two sides, the SMC-Feller combination controller, which was jointly developed for hot runner and servo applications, was also presented.

MoldControl test setup demonstrates new control units

The new developments presented this year included the SLA and SSA series of compact linear actuators and screw actuators, which have been perfected in various designs for a wide range of slide, core or plate movements in injection molds and are already in use at customers such as Wild & Küpfer AG or Avenue Mold Solutions.

However, the left side of the stand was dominated by the prototypes of the new Servo MoldControl (SMC) control unit. Here, the new components could be experienced up close in action for the first time. For demonstration purposes, both a linear slide and a precise rotational movement were simulated. Meanwhile, real-time feedback on the movement sequence was displayed on the control units with screens. Although only a foretaste, our prototypes impressed many visitors and we are also delighted about this milestone on the way to the market launch planned for 2024.

Visitors are also thinking ahead

With topics such as modern, intuitive control and powerful servo-electric execution of linear movements, we hit a nerve for many visitors this year, as the topic of electric automation has long since arrived in people's minds and production halls. People are longing for efficient, modern solutions that conserve resources and function smoothly for a long time.

Processes and production environments are being automated and electrified at every turn in order to withstand economic conditions and competitive pressure. For us, this means continuing to move with the times, thinking ahead and finding the ideal solution for every project.

With this in mind, we were able to draw a successful conclusion after four days at the trade fair and then return to our day-to-day work full of motivation. We would like to thank our colleagues from Feller, all visitors and of course the hard-working trade fair team and look forward to presenting new innovations again at Fakuma 2024.
