Once installed, demolded millions of times
Well-established, but far from being outdated, one of the earliest Servomold unscrewing systems - the 8-fold unscrewing unit for the Swiss company Wild & Küpfer AG - has been doing its job reliably for 11 years. After more than 43 million successfully unscrewed molded parts, it is high time to tell a joint success story that continues to this day.
How servo technology exceeds the highest requirements
Small impurities, big disaster. In the production of pharmaceutical primary packaging or medical plastic parts such as high-precision Luer lock systems, cleanliness for machine, mold and molded part is not a formality, but a strictly regulated production standard, compliance with which determines the top or flop of entire batches. Nobody wants to have thousands of parts produced for nothing - because of contamination on the screw cap. Servo-electrical automation concepts not only perform translational and linear movements reliably, they also reduce contamination risks to a minimum. But what exactly is the technology behind this? Let's put the servo advantages under the microscope.
From the smallest decimal
to the tool of the future
Injection molds in the medical sector require a special level of precision, cleanliness, and process control. In our team of experts, Röchling found a design partner for its automated unscrewing unit that combines a passion for detail with forward-looking technologies.

Medical
System solutions for medical plastic compounds
Where medical components come into contact with patients, for example through syringes, cannulas, catheters and infusion tubes, so-called Luer-Lock connections are used in most cases to transport liquids and medications safely from A to B. The special thread system, which has remained unchanged for over 100 years, is a uniform global standard and ensures the tightness of closures and connections in medical applications.
The injection moulding production of medical components with Luer-Lock connections is one of the most important applications for Servomold in the medical and pharmaceutical sector. Due to our specialisation in servo-electric unscrewing units for thread unscrewing, our systems are used time and again in the production of Luer-Lock components. Here, our customers not only rely on the accuracy and short cycle times that we achieve with our systems, but also appreciate above all the process reliability and the distinctive documentation options that every servo control unit and thus every Servomold system has.
Pharmaceutical
System solutions for pharmaceutical lids and caps
One feature that just about all eye drops, cough syrup, nasal spray and headache tablets have in common is the screw cap on lids and caps - or in other words: a screw-threaded medicine package. In the pharmaceutical sector, too, Servomold is one of the leading suppliers in the field of thread de-screwing and has always met the industry's strict specifications for production under cleanroom conditions.
The production standard is oil- and lubricant-free, which is so important when dealing with medicines. Meanwhile, the fact that safe and clean production can still be efficient is proven by the extremely low maintenance requirements and failure risks of our systems, which can withstand 24-hour operation over long running times without any problems despite extremely short cycle times. And if a problem does arise, our experts provide the necessary support both remotely and on site.
